Reducing Stress during Veterinary Visits
Barks + Bliss Veterinary Wellness is absolutely committed to reducing your pet’s stress levels during any veterinary procedure. Both Dr. Brown and Dr. Reeve are Low-Stress Handling certified along with members of our staff. We utilize the latest in stress-reducing tactics to ensure your pet is as comfortable as possible during their visit here. This starts from their very first kitten or puppy visit when our staff handles your pet gently and calmly with liberal use of treats to reduce their quite natural fear of being somewhere new.
Pets can certainly remember difficult events in their lives so we strive to ensure their visits here do not create significant stress that can lead to a worsening of their mental state in future visits. Throughout their lives, we make every effort to make sure their visit is as physically and mentally stress-free as possible.
For most visits, we ask that owners bring their pet to our facilities hungry. We will offer many delicious treats to help distract from our examination procedures. We want their memory of our facility to be of a place that has friendly people who have delicious treats to offer for the duration of their stay with us. On occasion, for pets that continue to exhibit signs of distress during their visit here, medication may be used to make sure the experience they remember is pleasant.
